Tomás Thompson

Founder & CEO

Tomás Thompson, Founder and CEO of Rockfield Medical Devices, intimately understands the challenges of tube feeding. Driven by personal experience, he has built an expert team to bring an innovative tube feeding system to the market. With over 15 years’ experience in the healthcare industry and a proven track record in SME business development, Tomás leads with strong vision for game changing, user-friendly, mobile enteral feeding systems. He holds a degree in Business and Education from ATU Galway and an MSc from Ulster University. Tomás's strategic leadership and commitment to healthcare innovation define his approach, as he spearheads the development of cutting-edge tube-feeding solutions to improve patient care globally.

John Kelly

John Kelly

Head of R&D

John Kelly leads the device development activities at Rockfield Medical Devices. John has over 25 years of experience in the medical devices arena. During this time, he has worked in technical leadership roles in several device companies, including startups and multinationals. He has also worked on developing various innovative medical devices and created more effective R&D infrastructures, including improved product design and test capabilities. John has a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Computer Aided Engineering.

Donal Mayne

Senior Design Engineer

Donal’s work includes research, design, testing and prototyping. He holds a Product Design and Innovation degree from the Institute of Technology, Carlow, and an MSc in Medical Device Design from the National College of Art & Design. Donal has worked for many multinational companies in the medical device industry.

Edel Keaveney

Edel Keaveney

Senior Research Manager

Edel's work focuses on clinical research, usability testing and design validation. Edel also provides expert support for marketing and commercialization initiatives, labeling, dissemination (including scientific publications) and bioburden testing. She holds a BSc in Nutritional Sciences from University College Cork and a PhD from Ulster University. With over 15 years of experience in scientific roles spanning multinationals, startups, and public health agencies, Edel brings extensive expertise in research and key stakeholder management.

Eoin Gaughran

Eoin Gaughran

Electronic Engineer

Eoin, with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer & Electronic Engineering from ATU Galway, excels in managing the creation of compliant product labels, designing impactful marketing materials and digital media, and developing software programs. His expertise spans website management, full-stack development, Java, C++, low-level programming, and Linux.

Financial Controller

David is the Financial Controller at Rockfield Medical Devices. He is a Chartered Accountant with 15 years of experience working in hyper-growth multinational companies and exciting local startups. He holds a B.Comm from the University of Galway and an M.B.S from Dublin City University. David is keenly interested in helping finance teams and companies grow and scale.

Project Manager

Gareth is involved with Project Management at Rockfield Medical Devices. He is a medical device engineering professional with a degree in electronics engineering and over 20 years of experience in R&D, product/process development, and manufacturing. He has a demonstrated track record of success in both multinational and startup environments and strong technical, management, and project management skills, with the ability to build teams and businesses that deliver stakeholder value.

Anna Gallagher

Anna Gallagher

Grant Project Co-ordinator

Anna spearheads all grant-related activities at Rockfield Medical Devices, while also managing human resources, and office operations. With over 20 years of experience spanning the medical device, pharmaceutical, and software development sectors, Anna has made significant contributions to both startups and multinational corporations. Anna holds a BA in Management Practice, a Diploma in Management & Industrial Relations, and a Diploma in Psychology.

Senior Development Engineer

Jonny’s work includes research, prototyping and testing for product and process improvements. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Science and Technology from the National University of Ireland and has R&D experience in the Medical Device Industry, working in both Multinational and Startup environments.

Thomas Glynn

Operations Manager

Thomas is the Operations Manager at Rockfield Medical Devices and is responsible for managing the outsourcing of manufacturing and supply chain. He has over 15 years of International Experience in high volume Manufacturing Environments, including medical devices. Thomas has led engineering teams and business units in startup and established businesses, he holds a degree in Polymer Engineering from the Athlone Institute of Technology.

Rachael Connolly

Rachael Connolly

R&D Technician

Rachael's work spans R&D and commercialization, leveraging her background in Human Nutrition and marketing. She has honed her skills developing and delivering product training, representing Rockfield at conferences and exhibitions, and in stakeholder engagement. Rachael excels in device testing, design validation, usability, and clinical study planning and reporting. She also contributes to risk management, literature reviews, labeling, and dissemination.

Warner Figueras

Warner Figueras

R&D Engineer

Warner completed his college work placement in Rockfield Medical Devices and following graduation, has since continued working with Rockfield. He has gained expertise in research and design and has had critical input into product development, test method development and support in developing processes related to Rockfield's products and product pipeline. He holds an Honours Degree in Biomedical Engineering from ATU, Galway.
